Introducing IDE

From Sade to Fela Kuti, from Bob Marley to Marvin Gaye,
the spirit of music remains immutable in the eyes of this artist.

Drawing from themes of events and situation, Idé has definitively become an artist of her own. Evident in her music are traces of personal, social, political and spiritual themes as she addresses everyday personal and global matters. Idé’s music brings an infusion of an unsullied energy and an eclectic new sound to the music scene. Its musical blend of many musical traditions includes elements of soul, r&b, hip-hop, folk, fusion, nu-jazz flavored with an Afrobeat/African sound introduces the world to this multi-faceted lyricist, singer and songwriter.

The name, Idé (pronounced E-day), is of a West African origin. Born in Detroit, Michigan – spending the early part of her life for 17 years in Nigeria, West Africa - and now residing in Chicago, Illinois, Idé’s musical inspiration and ability draws from an exposure to her cultural environment, past and present, as well a number of global AIDS, social and political issues which gives her music a different and interesting taste. Putting together her musical influences from various cultures and learning experiences from her travels, Idé incorporates western sounds savored with an African flavor as she addresses the matters of the heart as well as needs of today’s world. “Through music, I am able to relate. It is my tool to connect with the world. I believe in the spirit of love, in the spirit of giving back and also in the healing power of words as well as its destructive attributes. I have always been drawn to the kind of music that makes an impact. It has changed my life and I would love to do the same for someone else anywhere in the world through my music.”, Idé says.

Idé has worked all across genres on stage and in the studio with international and local artists/musicians such as 2face Idibia of West Africa, Teddy Afro (Tewodros Kassahun) of East Africa, Kwame & the WanAfrica Band, Chicago's own reggae band Gizzae and more.

"Music entails a spirit of its own. The gift of life & love lies in the details journey at hand. Music is a major piece/peace and everything in-between to that final destination." -- Idé.

With her undeniable passion in the arts and dynamics of life, Idé is determined to cross bridges, boundaries, and continents with her music in an effort to make a change, be a voice & inspiration for all women, men, and children all over the globe, and produce songs transforming lives & removing global stereotypes.
